I decided against breakfast at the hotel in favor of walking around to see what I could find. I turned in my 2 pound key fob at the front desk on my way out. Staff remembered to ask for my knee, everyone at the hotel is so helpful.

I took a right just outside the hotel entrance and headed towards the Camino. As I walked around today I was never far from it. I saw Burger King, I was fairly sure that I would not get breakfast there. As I walked towards the Pamplona Cathedral, Santa Maria Cathedral, I passed a small pastry shop. I went in and ordered 4 bite sized pastries which were put in a bag for me. I walked towards the cathedral while I quickly finished these off, they were so good and still a little warm. The 2 with chocolate were extremely chocolatey.

The cathedral wasn’t open until 10:30 so I walked around. This part of the city is very old and the cathedral sits on ground that was originally a Roman fortress. The city is named for a Roman general. Had I walked into the city, I believe that I would have been on have been on the roads in the pictures below.

After the cathedral was open I entered and paid the pilgrims fee to see it. After, I returned to the pastry shop, much busier than before, I bought pastries to take back to my hotel. This time I got a box full.

My knee is improved, but I have concerns about being able to tackle the hills that lay in front of me. I spent the afternoon studying the elevation maps of the coming days. My plan at this point is to find transportation to Puente la Reina and start the Camino again. From there the terrain is fairly flat for the next 17 stages. If my knee is still an issue, I will find transportation to Sierra and start the final leg of my Camino to Santiago.
