I spent the next four days in Lyon Spain. First thing Monday morning I found a store that sold sunglasses and it really helped to hide the black eyes.
After some time for reflection, I decided to end my Camino. I took a train from Leon to Madrid, once in Madrid, I was told that I should get a medical examination before trying to fly. My injuries turned out to be more than I had thought they were. I spent 2 nights in a hospital, addition to a concussion, I fractured my orbital eye bone and cracked a few teeth. I would need to wait over 2 weeks before I could fly again to come home. I was fortunate to have people to spend the time with in France.
After returning home, I was unsure if I still felt that I should return to Spain to complete my Camino, there is nothing to prove. But as time went on, I found that my injury overtook much of the great story of my walk. Eventually, I decided that after my recuperation, I wanted to return and complete my walk to Santiago. I plan to make my way to Hontanas, hopefully see Louis and stay at the same hotel before setting out again to finish my last 300 miles.
